PREAMBLE
(Excerpted from the Moorish Code; the Ancient Free Moorish Rite Constitution)
WHEREAS we first endeavor to establish Moorish Rite Freemasonry in America, and thereafter throughout the world, thereby promoting moral direction, vision, endurance, and integrity on our spiritual journey toward the Light of God and freedom; we are aggregated on the summons of the Most High, to navigate our common vessel by the fundamental tenet to invoke (and reflect) the Creator in all of our undertakings herein.
Moorish Rite Freemasonry is a way of life as much as it is an order of truth , benevolence, and enlightenment. We consider it our sacred duty, and anointed destiny, to rescue Freemasonry from the murky waters of frivolous and demoniacal caricatures, and propagate inspection rather on its solid rock of morality and beneficent humanity. Moreover, we acknowledge and hold fast to the divine mandate of uplifting the Moorish nation in the process of reestablishing truth. Moreover, inasmuch as we are obligated fraternally, we are as well, compelled genealogically, to affirm prosperity, solidarity, and security for our nation.
We are solemnly and mutually obliged to practice the principles of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth, not only amongst our own kith and kin, but also with all humanity. We honor and embrace the ethics of all humanitarian acts. We do, however, firmly resolve that our foremost diligence of loyalty is to the Nation of Moors. To this, we embed our word in the mortar and block of our temple.
Moreover, we herein consent to diligently adhere to this Moorish Code, by exerting a firm application of all laws emanating herefrom in all affairs of our practice and affiliations. Moreover, we aver, with a firm conviction of purpose, that we will embody the tenets of our profession not only within our Lodges, but likewise abroad. Accordingly, we herein affix our seal and tender our names under joined hands, as evidence of our reverence for God, commitment to the sublime tenets of Freemasonry, and strict allegiance to the Ancient Free Moorish Rite.
